A new date is to be set for the trial and once complete will be monitored for approximately two months to determine its effectiveness.

A feasibility study for the redesign of the Square is also being examined. This may involve the subdivision of the open areas within the Town Square thereby creating desire lines which would ultimately require new paved surfaces.

Cllr Foley said it is imperative that something is done as soon a possible and described the surface as “as dangerous as you will find anywhere”. She asked for an update at the March meeting.

Tralee Municipal District Manager, Michael Scannell, accepted there are issues being raised by the public and councillors, but said the technical specifications of the surface in the Square meets the required standards.  He said the were looking at options to improve the surface of the Square.
