THE Mayor of Tralee has asked Kerry County Council to write to a Dutch airline to see if a direct route from Kerry Airport to Schipol Airport in Amsterdam is feasible.

Mayor of Tralee Cllr Jim Finucane, speaking at the meeting of Tralee Municipal District on Monday morning, said they are contacting CityHopper, a subsidiary of Dutch airline KLM, about the possibility of establishing a route to Schipol, one of the busiest hub airports in Europe.

Mayor Finucane said he has already contacted Kerry Airport about the proposal and hopes KLM will look at the feasiblity of such a route.

Mayor Finucane said the establishment of such a route would be a game changer for local companies like Dairymaster and FEXCO.
