“There is a wonderful diversity of individuals and organisations working in the arts community which has benefits for tourism locally and the wider economy. From dance to theatre and from drama to the visual arts, the sector is alive with energy, enthusiasm and creativity,” said Kate Kennelly.

Beginning on Saturday, 10 September, ‘Creative Kingdom’ will be broadcast on the second Saturday of every month from 10.30am to 11am during the Saturday Supplement programme. It will focus on different genres, the people who work behind the scenes in the arts and the most creative people working in the sector in Kerry today.

Chief Executive of Kerry County Council, Moira Murrell, said the Council was delighted to fund this new broadcast slot which will give a new and valuable platform to the arts in Kerry. ‘The Council has a key role in promoting the arts in the county. Feedback from the arts community has pointed to the need for a greater presence fore the arts in the media and we are delighted that Radio Kerry has embraced this new venture. I would like to thank Fiona Stack, Frank Lewis and Radio Kerry for their support and assistance,’ she said.

Saturday Supplement presenter, Frank Lewis said: “The arts in Kerry entertain and enhance all of our lives. In this new slot we will continue to promote and celebrate this integral and essential part of who we are.”
