Slatts car park laneway leading to Boherbee.
THE issue of widening the laneway going into what is locally known as Slatts car park came up at the recent meeting of the Tralee Municipal District on Friday.
Fine Gael Cllr, Jim Finucane brought forward a motion to improve the entrance from the Boherbee side as at the moment there is only room for one car in the lane.
Cllr Finucane said it is a very busy car park and when the HSE Primary Care Centre which is due to be located in the adjacent Centrepoint building, becomes operational, there will be an even greater demand for parking in the area.
In reply, the Council said that a dwelling house adjacent to the laneway was purchased years ago by Tralee Town Council with a view to demolishing it to widen the laneway.
They said a design and cost estimate will be prepared and if the planning is successful, a funding source will have to be found.
