Councillors To Decide On Property Tax Rate In September

KERRY County Councillors will decide in September on whether to raise of lower the Property tax for the coming year.

The members may set a local adjustment factor within the range of +/-15% of the basic rate, or may decide not to adjust the basic rate.

Last year it was decided to increase the rate by 5% to raise an extra €700,000 for the local authority. The 5% percent increase proposal was passed with 14 councillors in favour, 13 against, one councillor  abstained and four cllrs were absent.

Kerry County Council is welcoming written submissions from the public on this matter specifically covering the potential effects of varying the basic rate of the Local Property Tax on businesses, individuals and on local authority services.
