COVID Cases Continue To Fall In Tralee Local Electoral Area

THE number of new COVID-19 cases in the Tralee Local Electoral Area (LEA) continues to fall dramatically according to figures available on the Government’s COVID-19 data hub.

There were 267 new confirmed cases in the two week period up to Monday, April 18, compared to the 453 in the fortnight up to Monday, April 11 and 770 in the two weeks up to April 4.

Tralee LEA has a 14-day incidence rate of 808.2 per 100,000 of the population, but it’s still above the national incidence of 598 per 100,000.

The incidence rate in Kerry is 589.70  per 100,000. In all, there were 871 new cases recorded in Kerry during the fortnight period up to Thursday, April 21.

The Castleisland LEA has the highest incidence rate, seeing 144 new cases and a rate of 839 per 100,000. Listowel LEA saw 230 new cases and a rate of 802.1 per 100,000. The Corca Dhuibhne Local Electoral Area saw 109 new cases and a rate of 768.6 per 100,000.

There are two LEAs in Kerry which have rates below the national average. The Killarney Electoral Area saw 166 new cases, a current 14-day incidence rate of 560 per 100k of the population. Kenmare LEA which had 132 new cases, a rate of 526 per 100,000.

The total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Kerry, since the pandemic began according to the latest data up to Thursday, April 21, is 37,574.
