At the start of the month, the crib in the Square was damaged with the glass removed the head taken off one of the statues. A man has since contacted Tralee gardaí to claim responsibility for that damage.

The latest incident comes just a week after the Christmas lights in the Square had been vandalised for two days in a row.

The LED light at the foot of the Christmas tree and the string lights on the tree were discovered to have been damaged on last Wednesday afternoon.

It was immediately repaired and replaced, but when checked again on Thursday, the lights on the tree were again were found to be vandalised. In all, the damage is estimated at around €1,000.

Gardaí are asking that if anyone saw the damage being carried out to contact them at Tralee Garda Station on 066-7102300.

LOL,are the Gardaí incompatible of catching a repeat offence?

The private security industry would simply just set up a hidden camera under such circumstances – case closed!
