SHOPPERS at O’Shea’s Gala in Blennerville were treated to some lovely singing on Thursday evening and gave generously to a great cause.

The Curraheen Community Choir set up just outside the entrance to the shop at about 5.30pm, as people were making their way home from work and stopping for fuel or groceries.

For an hour, the choir belted out seasonal favourites with gusto and soon the collection box was rattling as the donations came in for St Vincent de Paul.

Mary O’Shea of O’Shea’s Gala and Jack Lacey instigated the event a few years ago and hundreds of euro have been raised for SVP since then.

“The public have been very generous and in the end we raised €300 tonight,” said Brendan O’Brien of the choir, who thanked everyone for making it a success. The money will be presented to the charity at a later date.
