Cycle Against Suicide won an award last night.

THE ‘Cycle Against Suicide’ organisation last night received an award at the ‘Shannon Airport European Sport Tourism Summit And Awards’ in Limerick.

The Shannon Group European Sport Tourism Awards attracted 200 nominees and took place last night at King Johns Castle, Limerick,  where the cycling group were given the ‘UL Charity Sport Tourism Event Award’. The Ring of Kerry Cycle was also nominated in that category.

The ‘Cycle Against Suicide’ campaign which promotes the message that it’s okay not to be okay recently came through Tralee where they were greeted by a massive crowd at Mounthawk. (See video below)

The organisation thanked the hard work and commitment of their volunteers with a post on their Facebook page.

They weren’t the only Kerry nominees on the night. The Institute of Technology, Tralee was nominated in the Sport Tourism Educational Institute of the Year Award. Killarney was nominated in the European Sport Tourism Town 2016 category.

Kerry had two events nominated in the Regional Sport Tourism Event of the Year Category where the Dingle Marathon and Killarney Adventure Race are in contention, while in the Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle was nominated in the same category as .

The 15 categories  are designed to celebrate and reward innovation and achievement  from events, destinations and venues which have made outstanding contributions to the sport tourism industry across Europe.

MC at the event was Dave McIntyre, Newstalk ‘Off the Ball’, while past and present Ireland rugby captains Keith Wood and Paul O’Connell were also in attendance.
