Darragh and pals…

IN what has become regular feature of Darragh Ó Sé’s articles in the Irish Times, he has made another statement this week that that will have you cracking up.

While analysing Joe Brolly’, character he conjures up an image involving the Dalai Lama and the Derry man, that hits the nail on the head.

“He just likes getting a rise out of people,” writes Darragh.

“I’d say if he met the Dalai Lama, he’d goad him into an argument. Peace, love and tolerance only goes so far, after all. Half an hour in a room with our Joe and I’d say the bould Dalai would have him in a headlock, lamping away for all he was worth. Joe would come out of it with his nose broken but laughing away to himself.”

Darragh, comes out with all guns blazing with the first line in the piece.

“I was briefly talking to Joe Brolly after the Mayo-Donegal game on Saturday. Now, I have a lot of time for Joe but he talks some rubbish at times” he said.

These words might be construed as shots fired across the bow from Ventry to Derry. Brolly is not a man to stay quiet for too long, he’ll surely take the bait and conjure up a few choice words in response to ‘an fear láidir’.
