NO decision has yet been made on whether the Rose of Tralee International Festival and Killorglin’s Puck Fair will go ahead this August.

Speaking on Radio Kerry this morning, Chief Executive of the Rose of Tralee Festival, Anthony O’Gara, said his team are constantly assessing the situation and will have a clearer idea after May 5, when the current restrictions are due to end, on whether the Festival can go ahead in some form later this year.

He said it would be sad if the lights were not going up on the streets of Tralee in August, but they are very conscious of the COVID-19 situation and the responsibility the Festival has with regard to the health and safety of all involved and that would take precedence in their decision.

Meanwhile, Declan Falvey of Puck Fair said that at the moment it was “unlikely” that the festival would go ahead in its current form on August 10-12, but they will look at how the COVID-19 situation develops and a decision on whether it will go ahead will be made at the end of May.
