Delegation ‘Very Pleased With Commitments’ To Progress On Macroom Bypass

Kerry County Council members and officials meeting with TII representatives in Dublin on Thursday.

A DELEGATION from Kerry County Council met with officials from Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) in Dublin today to discuss progress on the provision of the Macroom-Ballyvourney bypass scheme.

The delegation included Cathaoirleach Cllr Michael O’Shea, Chief Executive Moira Murrell, Director of Operations Charlie O’Sullivan and Cllrs Brendan Cronin, Johnny Healy-Rae, Mike Kennelly and Patrick Connor-Scarteen.

Speaking after the meeting, Cllr Michael O’Shea said the meeting was a very positive and constructive one:

“The delegation was arranged to impress upon TII the urgent necessity for the provision of this project which is of enormous importance to Kerry from a tourism, business and economic development point of view.

“The TII indicated that there will be progress on the 22km scheme very shortly and the delegation was very pleased with the commitments received in this regard.”
