A FREE breakfast workshop on Dementia Awareness Training for the business and retail sector will take place on Thursday, May 30 at the Workbench space at Bank of Ireland, Tralee from 8am-10am.

Cork/Kerry Community Healthcare, in association with Tralee Chamber Alliance and the HSE are providing the training which will be given by Tim O’Sullivan, R.P.N,C.M.H.N., Graduate Diploma Mental Health Nursing of the Older Person.

Mr O’Sullivan worked as a community mental health nurse in a specialised psychiatry of old age service in Dublin for almost 20 years.

His particular area of interest is in Dementia, and delivers Dementia Education Training to hospitals and nursing homes throughout Ireland. Tim has also delivered training for the Dementia Understand Together campaign.

The training is designed to

• Increase awareness of dementia,

• Explore some of the signs and symptoms of dementia and how they may present

• Tips on making business environments more enabling for the person with dementia and their carer.
