Details Of Events For ‘An Turas Mór – Homecoming Kerry’ Festival

THE Global Irish Festival Series, An Turas Mór – The Journey Home will take place in Kerry from October 1st to 31st.

‘An Turas Mór – Homecoming Kerry’ is a countywide initiative to bring home the Kerry Diaspora this October.

Featuring established world class festivals such as the Dingle Food Festival and the iQuest Adventure Series, there is plenty on offer for all festival goers from the high-octane sport enthusiast to the foodie connoisseur.

A series of experiences such as:  Festival in a Box which will feature a pull-up, pop-up travelling Roadshow that will visit several towns and villages throughout the county,  annual festivals and spectacles which traditionally take place during October, sports and recreational events and activities, clan gatherings and business events.

The opening ceremony begins in Dingle on October 1 with a fire and fireworks spectacle. The event will present the fire show followed by the official launch with music from West Kerry and culminating in a Fireworks Display commencing at sunset.

Tralee will host the closing ceremony on Sunday, October 30th on Denny Street from 5pm with a Fire Show with druids, DJ’s and giant Goths.

Other Tralee events incorporated in the Festival is Tralee TEDx on October 6, a Celebration Of Kerry Diaspora at The Rose Hotel on October 7, The Tralee Half Marathon on October 30, the Kerry Winter Rally at Banna on October 30 and the National Circus Festival Of Ireland.

Kerry County Council Chief Executive, Ms. Moira Murrell stated; “We in Kerry County Council are delighted to present An Turas Mór this October and welcome the support of Fáilte Ireland and Department of Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.  We look forward to welcoming all our visitors to Kerry for what promises to be a wonderful month long Festival.

The Festival is presented by Kerry County Council as part of the Global Irish Festival Series which is a joint initiative between Fáilte Ireland and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
