Dingle Summer Music Festival Takes Place This Weekend

FOR lovers of classical music, there’s only one place to be this weekend.

The Dingle Summer Music Festival takes place from Friday, May 19 to Sunday, May 21 and there’s a varied programme of concerts and performances to attend.

The Official Opening Ceremony and Concert with renowned Ukrainian Tenor, Misha Dimov and Louise Foxe on the piano takes place at St James’ Church on Friday from 4pm.

Later on Friday evening the Dingle New-Music Choir & Orchestra will perform on St Vincent’s Church, Ballyferriter at 8.30pm. Tickets €12.

Under the baton of Gábor Péli, the Dingle New-Music Choir & Orchestra are inviting you to embark on a journey exploring some of the highlights of choral and orchestral music by Tchaikovsky, Kodály, Fauré, Gluck and more.

On Saturday, The Dingle Community Choir, Laine Henderson, will give a lunchtime concert at St James’ Church at 1pm.

Inspired by the Canadian CHOIR!CHOIR!CHOIR! Foundation, the choir perform well-known pop/rock song arrangements that will have you singing along, tapping your toes and leaving feeling great.

Musicórum with conductor Dr. Geoffrey Spratt takes place at St Mary’s Church at 4pm, while ‘Around the World’ with a classical guitar, flute and cello trio of Eilis O’Sullivan (flute); Jerry Creedon (guitar) and Hugh McCarthy (cello) takes place at St James’ Church at 7pm.

Other highlights include The Morricone Experience at St James’ Church on Sunday at 1pm. Tickets €15. This live concert will highlight prolific film composer Ennio Morricone’s masterpieces. The Kerry Choral Union are in St. Mary’s Church at 3pm that day.

Ava Duffy and Claudia Duffy will give a piano and classical guitar recital at St James’ Church on Sunday at 5pm, Tickets €10, while a piano recital with Andreas Ioannides takes place at the same venue that night at 7pm. Tickets €12.
