Banna beach.

THERE will be restrictions on dogs and horses on parts of Kerry’s Blue Flag beaches during specified time periods this summer after the Kerry County Council Beach Bye Laws 2022 were adopted yesterday.

Councillors voted by 26 to 6 to adopt the Bye Laws (one councillor was absent). Dogs and horses will not be allowed access to the Blue Flag areas of the beaches from 11am to 7pm from June 1 to September 15, with the restriction operating from 12pm to 6pm at Kells beach.

However dogs will be able to access other areas of these beaches that are not in the Blue Flag zone and these will be clearly marked to direct dog owners to these areas.

Exception will be made for guide dogs and assistance dogs. The beach bye laws will be reviewed again following this summer season.

The byelaw in relation to controlling of dogs is part of the criteria to retain Blue Flag status for Kerry’s beaches for the coming season.

This criteria in relation to dogs had been in place for many years, but the International Blue Flag jury granted a dispensation for the 2021 season, but the Jury clearly indicated that failure to introduce the appropriate controls for the 2022 season would jeopardise the award of flags.

The horror of being born canine
No dog park no access to visit loved ones graves now banned from the beach all for the tourism dollar

The horror of being born canine or canine rights – how WOKE.

Walk down any greenway and dodge the dog poo.
I visit the beach all the time too and have to watch dogs poo and pee on the sand in front of the owner and me where my kids are playing.
Furthermore, the careless dog owners never have their dogs (regardless of breed) on a leash and often approach my children and scare me as I have to be ready to defend my children from them.

Have some respect for the rest of us who do not want the intrusion of you or your animals towards us. We do not want to socialise with dogs.
Get over it, it’s only in the Blue Flag zone – don’t be lazy the dog will love the extra bit of a walk!
