NOW that we’re pretty much over Christmas and into the new year, many people are starting to think about getting fitter and healthier.

While national walk day is on Saturday, if you’re feeling a bit more energetic then why not hop on your bike instead for the Jimmy Duffy Memorial Cycle.

The event takes place at 11:00am this Saturday morning from St. Pats GAA Club, Blennerville. Jimmy Duffy, who lived in Blennerville all his life, was a fine musician and avid cyclist.

He was 67 years old when he died as a result of smoke inhalation after fire at his home on Church Street, Blennerville, in January 2010.

Over 150 took part in last year’s cycle in fine weather back in January.

The cycle will travel to Castleisland town centre and home followed by deserved refreshments, tea and coffee in the Windmill Bar Blennerville. Later that night, there will be a Mass in Curraheen at 8pm followed by a traditional session & refreshments in Quanes bar.

All enquiries to Maurice @ (087)2998206 and George @ (087)6814799. This is a fun cycle led by a pace car.
