kerry county council logoKERRY County Council is advising people not to venture outdoors after Met Eireann increased their weather warning from Orange to RED for Kerry and other parts of the country with gusts of up to 150km/h predicted from 9pm tonight until 12 noon tomorrow.

“This level of wind has the potential to cause damage as a result of fallen trees and from wind-blown objects,” reads a statement from the Council.

“Kerry County Council’s advice to the public is NOT to venture outside and to take all reasonable precautions to secure their property. Additionally the public are asked to secure loose objects such as bins, gates, signage which could fly off in the wind and cause injury to others.”

“All materials on building sites, farmyards etc should be tied down and shed doors locked firmly.”

The Council also asks that people call into their neighbours, particularly those living on their own, elderly, those with limited mobility etc. to make sure they’re ok and to see if they need anything and to ensure that they have someone to contact in an emergency.
