THREE Kerry schoolchildren recently attended the finals of the 2016 Doodle 4 Google Awards, which took place on March 8, at Google’s EMEA headquarters in Dublin and though they did not emerge victorious, the pupils gave a great representation of their schools and the county.

Seanie Feehan from Scoil Naomh Eirc, Kilmoyley, and Jack Lynch and Kyran Boyle, both from Scoil Nuachabháil, Ballymacelligott, were among the 75 that were nominated for the finals. It was a great achievement getting to the final as this year the competition was hugely popular with over 4000 entrants in total.

The winner of this year’s competition was Mia Buckley, from Summercove National School, Co. Cork. She will have her Doodle displayed on Google Ireland homepage on Easter Monday, March 28.

The future is looking good as in recent months, there has been a lot of artistic talent coming out of schools around the county with entries making it to the finals in various competitions.
