OVER the past week there have been reports of a door to door scam that began in the Fenit area and over the weekend was experienced by some residents in the Ballinorig area.

The fraudsters are masquerading as members of Tralee RFC, using the club logo and crest to sell lines under the guise of collecting for a homeless charity.

A spokesperson from Tralee RFC has said the club has no ties with those collecting for a homeless charity at the moment and wishes to warn people who may unwittingly buy lines from them.

The two involved are believed to minors between the ages of 10 and 15. Gardaí have been informed about the scam.

After posting a message on the Tralee Do You Know Facebook page warning people about the scam, Tralee RFC Club Secretary, Shane O’Sullivan received up to 20 calls from people over the weekend notifying him that they had been approached at their doors by the minors.
