TRALEE Chamber Alliance is calling on the businesses of Tralee to use the next few weeks to unravel the fairy lights, dust off the tinsel and ‘tell their Christmas story’ as they launch a Christmas Window Display competition.

Chamber Retail Team Chairperson, Sandra Rusk announced the competition today with prizes of advertising campaigns with the county’s leading media brands for the winners.

“We are inviting businesses big and small across Tralee to embrace the Christmas spirit and do what they can over the coming weeks to have their windows ready to welcome people back to town from the beginning of December. With no town centre parade this year, the focus needs to be on creating a ’feel-good’ atmosphere in town. We’re hoping all the businesses in town can help.”

We are asking everyone to ‘Tell your Christmas Story’ and to have a Christmas Window display ready for December 1st. Morale is low, so this is no ordinary Christmas window – we are asking you to pull out all the stops on this one.”

Kevin McCarthy Tralee Chamber President and MD of Garvey Group, who are co-sponsors, said; “We’ve all had a tough year, and we need something to look forward to. Christmas won’t be cancelled in Tralee, so when you come into town this year take some time to admire the amazing effort our businesses will be putting in to create a nice atmosphere.”

Sandra continued; “When Ken and the team in the Chamber contacted some of the media to support this, they received a brilliant response, and we want to thank Connect Kerry, Radio Kerry, TraleeToday.ie, Kerry’s Eye, The Kerryman and the Tralee Advertiser for their incredible advertising prize contribution which adds up to an advertising prize worth €10,000.”

The competition will include two overall winners, one judged by the Retail Team of Tralee Chamber and the other a Public Choice, with members of the public being invited to vote on their favourite through social media.

Kevin explained; “The Chamber team will be going around in early December taking photos of the registered business’s displays, and these photos will be loaded to Facebook and Instagram with the hashtag #TraleeChristmas for public voting”.

“Once businesses reopen to the public, we will also be inviting members of the public to come in and take pictures in front of their favourite displays and again tag #TraleeChristmas when they post them online”.

Businesses wanting to take part should register by emailing business@tralee.ie and full competition details are on https://tralee.ie/christmaswindow2020/
