ACCORDING to figures released by Kerry County Council, nearly €1m in compensation was paid out for claims made against Tralee Town Council in less than two years.
The figures were released after a motion from Cllr Brendan Cronin at Monday’s monthly meeting of the Council, asking for the figures and the breakdown of where claims were made.
Since January 2013, to date, there were 46 claims made against Tralee Town Council and €999,959 had been paid out.

Countywide, the figure paid out was €4,268,195 for 525 claims in that period.
There were 444 claims made against Kerry County Council with €2,735,487 paid out.
Twenty-five claims were made against Killarney Town Council costing €286,300 while 10 claims were made against Listowel Town Council with €246,449 paid in compensation.
