€250,000 Made Available To Council For Projects

UP to €250,000 has been made available to Kerry County Council under the Outdoor Public Space Scheme.

Under the scheme local authorities can apply for a capital grant of up to €250,000 for a project at a funding rate of up to 90%.

Grants will then be awarded for projects that focus on the delivery of infrastructure to support arts, culture, creative activities, entertainment events and festivals and the night-time economy.

Eligible projects include the provision, adaptation or improvement of outdoor public spaces in population centres.

The scheme will apply for the period of the coronavirus crisis and local authorities can propose suitable projects for the scheme immediately.

Minister for Education Norma Foley TD welcomed the news saying; “This €250,000 will provide a welcome stream of funding that will help create new and update existing outdoor spaces.”
