KERRY County Council is to receive €96,000 through the Built Heritage Investment Scheme (BHIS) administered by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.

Three Tralee projects have been granted funds in Denny Street, High Street and Greenview Terrace while the Church of Ireland in Ballymac will also get funding for repairs (see full list below).

Local Green Party representative, Cleo Murphy, has welcomed the news saying; “From Listowel to Valentia Island, nine projects are being supported for repair and conservation– including the Cable Station in Waterville, Ballymacelligott Church of Ireland, the Old Oratory in Cahersiveen, and Coláiste Idé in Dingle.

“Our built heritage is part of our history and it’s wonderful to see it being cherished and preserved. Minister Noonan has a genuine appreciation for this work and is allocating €4m nationwide for it. Great credit is due to those who prepare applications for funds like this and succeed.”
