Eleven Pubs To Watch The Game In On Saturday Night

While tens of thousands of Kerry fans will be in Croke Park on Saturday evening, those who can’t make it will be looking for somewhere with a bit of atmosphere in town (besides the Square of course!).

Every pub is bound to be buzzing but here’s some suggestions to where the craic will be…

1. Cheer on the local blues…

David Moran and Tommy Walsh should have a big say in Sam’s destination on Saturday night, so expect the volume levels to be raised at Charlies Bar at the Kerins O’Rahillys Clubhouse in support of the lads (including Gavin O’Brien of course).

The place should be packed with Blues who didn’t make the trip to Dublin. Especially good for families!

2. Watch the battle in the Brogue…

Kirby’s Brogue Inn is steeped in GAA history and it’s sure to be packed for the game. Make a night of it and celebrate a Kerry victory with a delicious meal in one of the town’s best restaurants.

3. Drinking with the enemy…

Paul Lowth of The Huddle Bar has his beloved Dublin flags flying outside his Strand Street hostelry, but it’s going to be a partisan Kerry crowd watching the many screens dotted around the bar. You’ll have a good view no matter where you sit.

4. Go for goal at The Greyhound …

A black and amber stronghold, but it’ll be nothing but green and gold on Saturday. Always a great place to watch a soccer or GAA game, it’s going to have a fantastic atmosphere.

5. See The Kingdom at The Castle Bar…

Many of their GAA expert regulars will be at the game, but that won’t make it any less packed to watch the game of the year. Standing room only as usual.

6.  Celebrate in Sean Óg’s…

While Johnny and his Dublin-supporting wife Joan will be at the game, Mogs and the team will be holding the fort serving pints to goalthirsty Kerry fans. He’ll have to get some TVs in that new beer garden for the game though!

7. Get some air in Benners…

With fine weather forecast for Saturday night, you can sit out in the Courtyard and relax…okay maybe not relax, but you’ll be able to see the game al fresco with like-minded Kerry fans.

8. Paddy Macs for the craic…

The compact pub doesn’t need many people to create an atmosphere and it won’t be hard to fill it on Saturday. Get there early if you want a seat.

9. Party til late in The Blasket…

While the Castle Street pub will have a good crowd for the match early on, it’ll be absolutely jammers if Kerry manage to win it. A party until the wee hours to mirror what’s happening in the DTwo and Coppers in Dublin.

10. Bring the noise to Bailys Corner…

More of a rugby pub, but Garry will have a warm welcome for Kerry fans with big screens and a great atmosphere in the Castle Street hostelry.

11. Go apoplectic in The Abbey Inn…

Like The Blasket, if Kerry win, this place will be hopping with people wanting to celebrate into the wee hours. All we need now is a victory!
