Emily To Be Remembered At Cycle And Family Day At Ballyseedy

BALLYSEEDY Garden Centre is the place to be on Saturday, April 21, as the Kerry Branch of Down Syndrome Ireland (DSI) are set to host the inaugural Unsung Hero charity cycle.

The cycle will pay homage to renowned explorer Tom Crean and will also remember DSI Kerry member Emily Keohane who sadly passed away last year.

Emily and her father John have been involved in the Tour de Munster for many years and this year Emily will be fondly remembered on the day.

The cycle will mark the official partnership announcement between Tour De Munster and the Munster branches of Down Syndrome Ireland as the main beneficiary of the 2018 Tour de Munster charity cycle, which has raised over €2.5 million for its beneficiaries since its inception in 2001 and takes place every August.

 

The 75km cycle will kick off at 10am from Ballyseedy Home and Garden Centre and will head west where cyclists will stop off along the way in Annascaul at Tom Crean’s former pub, The South Pole Inn for refreshments before returning at 3pm.

For those not cycling, Ballyseedy Home and Garden Centre and DSI Kerry will host a fun filled day of family entertainment and food for everyone to enjoy on both Saturday the 21st and Sunday the 22nd of April.

A host of sporting stars including former Irish rugby player David Wallace and Kerry football stars Aidan O’Mahony, Daniel Bohan, Kieran Donaghy, Killian Young, David Moran, Ronan Shanahan and Barry John Keane will also be in attendance on April 21st for an exciting spinathon with Radio Kerry broadcasting live from Ballyseedy on Saturday.

Cyclists who partake in the cycle will also be entered into a draw for a weekend stay in Tom Crean’s refurbished home in Annascaul.
