Members of ‘1st Kerry Scout Troop’ along with Erasmus students from IT Tralee at their ‘International Night’ last night.

WITH the weather that we have been having over the past couple of weeks, it’s a wonder that anybody would be thinking of heading to lands abroad just yet.

Tell this to the ‘1st Kerry Scout Troop’ though who visited various different countries around the world last week as they held their very own ‘International Night’.

They were helped by over 14 Erasmus students from the IT Tralee who came down on the night to help spread some of their culture to the young troop.

Mathieu Pourchier, from France is currently volunteering in the troop as a leader and was instrumental in bringing his fellow students down on the night to lend a helping hand.

Students from the UK, France and Germany, many of whom are ‘Scouts’ in their own countries, were present to teach the troop about the different cultures, foods and different languages that abound in their native lands.

The Erasmus students had set up their own workshops/stalls where they had items and information relating to their country on show and where the different groups of scouts could walk around and read and engage with.

Some of the local scouts even took it upon themselves to teach the students a few cúpla focail!

A great night was had by all that attended and we’re sure that there will be many such nights again in the future.
