FÉILE na mBláth could still take place in late August to coincide with a visit from Birds Amusements, if the public health authorities allow.

This was revealed at the meeting of Tralee Municipal District councillors on Monday morning where Fianna Fáil Cllr Johnnie Wall asked could the summer festival, which takes place annually in the Town Park in June, be organised to run in late August.

He said if the number of COVID-19 cases remains low in the community, then perhaps the Féile na mBláth could be held during the weekend the Rose of Tralee would have been held.

In reply, Council management said they are very supportive of holding the event but are guided by the “Roadmap for Reopening Society and Business” and the prevailing advice of the public health authorities.

A firm decision will be made following the next phase of reopening, scheduled for July 20.

Mayor of Tralee, Cllr Terry O’Brien, said he had spoken to the people at Birds Amusements and they said they would come to Tralee in late August, if public health guidelines permit them to do so.
