Fenit Pier Included In €4.5m Capital Works Funding

Fenit PierFENIT PIER has been allocated €112,500 in state funding as part of €4.5 million boost for local authority harbours and piers.

Money allocated will go towards  dredging works at the pier to improve access for fishing boats.

Other harbours and piers to benefit in Kerry were – Ballinskelligs Pier (€112,500), Renard Pier (90,000), Kay Rock AtoN (€60,000), Scraggane Pier (40,000), Visitor Moorings (€30,000), Kenmare River AtoN (€22,500), Caherciveen Pier (€3,600). The total for Kerry is €476,250.

The funding is coming from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marines’ 2016 Fishery harbour and Coastal Infrastructure Development Programme. It was announced by, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Simon Coveney.

The package provides funding for the repair of piers damaged by recent storms, in addition to supporting the ongoing development and enhancement of harbour facilities including some marine leisure developments.
