Tucker Kelly U16 Shield – Fenit Samphires 6 Park FC 0

A great finish to the season for the 16s team and well deserved in the end. The Tucker Kelly Shield was coming to Fenit after a 6 nil defeat of Park A in Listowel. We dominated from the start against a strangely lethargic Park team which never got going.

These two teams played each other in the league in Tralee over Easter and we squeezed a 1 nil victory. It all pointed to a close game but it never materialised. We started on fire and were two up after 10 minutes and with our tails up there was no way back for the Park.

A goal of note then soon followed when Ciaran Carmody scored his first ever goal for the club after a superb move involving eight players. It was four at the half and it finished six nil after a dour second half. It would be wrong to single out individuals as everyone did their bit which may be the principal trait of the team.

A huge cheer then at the end when our own Mary Kelly presented the trophy to our captain Christopher Murphy. The team and club would like to thank all the parents who have supported us throughout the season and last Saturday in particular. It was great too to see so many of our Under 17 and 18 players at the match.

Thanks also to Bertie and Peter and all at Glenside Buses who have been great to us over the years and finally to the officials on the day, the Kerry Schoolboys and girls league and the Listowel club who all combined to make the day one to remember. For the record our scorers were Christopher Murphy(4), Sean Donnellan and Ciaran Carmody. Our squad was:Brian O’Regan, David Lenihan, Ossie Clifford, Ciaran Murray, Padraig O’Mahony, Alan McElligott, Cormac O Brien,Christopher Murphy, Sean Donnellan,Ciaran Carmody, Ed Moynihan, Jack Lynch, Padraig Donnellan, Conor Lowe.

U11’s

Well done to our U11’s who won the John Joe Naughton memorial shield.

After a slow start our boys began to press and pass well. After three tough games against Killorglin and two teams from The Park we ended up in the final against a strong Park side.

Fenit saved their best till last and put in an excellent team performance. Everyone showed great character and belief as the team defended and pushed forward as a unit.

After a very close game we ran out 1-0 winners after a fine strike from our captain Dylan Ryan. We fought hard to hold onto that lead with some fine defending from Eddie McCarthy and Liam O Connor.

Team in full

Dylan Ryan, Eddie McCarthy, Rón O Neill, Billy Walsh, Liam and Tómas O Connor, John Joe Hanafin, Ben Donellan, Donnagh Murphy, Josh Elvins,Ruairi and Tommy Burns

Every player should be very proud of their efforts today. Well done lads.
