Duran Duran and friends won’t be coming to Killarney this weekend.

THE Killarney Festival Of Music and Food has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances beyond the organisers’ control.

A spokeswomen for the festival said: “We are devastated that the festival has been cancelled – we did everything in our power to make it happen this weekend.”

“We would like to extend our sincere apologies to all the festival goers who were planning to attend the event in Killarney and we would like to thank all the local businesses and statutory agencies for their help and support.”

The promoters are currently in discussions with some of the acts, about performing, in an alternative indoor venue in Killarney over the weekend and hope to make an announcement as soon possible.

Acts such as Duran Duran, Texas, ABC and The Stunning were due to perform this Saturday and Sunday in Killarney Racecourse along with comedy and food tents and a host of family entertainment.

The festival was moved  to the racecourse earlier this week having been relocated from Killarney House Demesne at the National Park, due to financial reasons.

The cancellation is a huge blow to the town of Killarney as many people had booked accommodation for the weekend, while many people from Tralee had planned to make the short journey over the road for the concerts.
