THE curtain came down on Kerry Film Festival 2014 last Saturday night when the best films were honoured in an awards ceremony at Siamsa Tire.
“We’re very confident and enthused by this year’s festival,” said one of the organisers, Neil Brown.
“Numbers are up all across the board, we travelled to six towns in total around the county and we had full houses in all six venues” said Neil.
One of the highlights of this year’s festival was the performance of a live-score for the documentary ‘Beyond Clueless’ by indie-pop duo ‘Summer Camp’. Its creator Catherine Bray was at the festival to witness the unique live act.
“A lot of people said they had no idea what to expect, but they loved it,” said Catherine Bray.
The ‘The Maureen O’Hara Award’ was given posthumously to young American camerawoman, Sara Jones, who tragically lost her life earlier this year while filming a movie.
Her death has since gone on to change filming safety regulations in Hollywood. Sara Jones’s family gave the Film Festival its blessing to honour their daughter with the award.
Here are the full list of winners on the night, followed by photos from the event.
