MEMBERS of the Fire Service in Tralee raised thousands for two organisations just before Christmas.

Pieta House Tralee and ADAPT Kerry both received cheques of €3,069 each after the members collected money from the public on the two Sundays before Christmas.

“We pick two charities every year and this time we chose Pieta House and ADAPT,” said John O’Donnell of Tralee Fire and Rescue Service.

“We were in Manor West and Tralee town centre for the collections. We bring the fire engine down so the kids can have a look. We’re delighted with the amount of money we raised,” he said.

Con O’Connor of Pieta H0use Tralee said; “Every €1,000 raised pays for 15 to 20 sessions at the centre and every 15 to 20 sessions saves a life. So that’s three lives. We appreciate every cent raised for us.”

Helena Slattery of ADAPT Kerry said; “We really want to thank Tralee Fire Station for what they’ve done. It’s not easy going out raising money in December so we really appreciate it.”
