IT was all smooth sailing in Fenit and Caherleaheen national schools as pupils started their schooldays in the past week.
“We have ten junior infants this year, there were no tears from them on Thursday and there have been no been no tears since,” said St Brendan’s Fenit, school principal, Aisling O’Sullivan.
“There were a few tears from the parents alright, but everything went really well. A lot of the kids knew each other from playschool so they bedded in easily,” she said. It was a similar story in Caherleaheen where 21 new pupils started.
Continued below… “They all settled in very quickly,” said Principal Donal O’Connor, of the new arrivals on Monday morning.
“The parents were more nervous. They would all have been to pre-school which makes it easier,” he said.
Holy Family school principal, Ed O’Brien challenged the Caherleaheen staff to take the Ice Bucket Challenge on Tuesday, so will they be accepting (see story here)? “I’d say we might do it on Friday,” said Donal, gamefully.
