Five More Kerry Cases, 330 Additional Cases Reported Nationally This Evening

KERRY has seen a rise of COVID-19 five cases in the health authorities’ daily update this evening. There were eight additional deaths reported nationally.

The incidence in the county over the past 14 days is now 83 per 100,000 with 123 cases in the same period.

The official number of COVID-19 cases in the county rose by three to reflect yesterday’s increase, which brings the number to 1,291 since the start of the pandemic, with today’s cases to be added tomorrow.

330 new cases over the past 24 hours were confirmed nationally by the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) this evening.

99 in Dublin, 28 in Cork, 26 in Louth, 25 in Meath, 21 in Donegal and the remaining 131 cases are spread across 20 other counties.

The number of people who have tested positive for the virus in the Republic of Ireland so far, now stands at 69,802.

There were eight further deaths from the virus reported this evening in Ireland. The total number of people who have died after contracting COVID-19 is 2,018.

As of 2pm today, 283 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 33 are in ICU. There have been 13 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.

Dr. Tony Holohan, Chief Medical Officer, Department of Health, said: “In our objective to use a six-week period to drive down COVID-19 infection in the community, our progress has stalled in the last week.

“We now have two weeks to get back on track. Drive down the disease by limiting the number of daily contacts you have. Work from home, stay at home and follow public health advice to get us to a reproduction number below 0.5 by December 1st.”
