Five Things To Do Around Tralee This Weekend

Just two shopping weekends to go until Christmas so the town and Manor will be packed. The weather, however, is threatening to spoil Saturday, but if you venture out over the weekend, bear these events in mind…

Friday

1. Forever young…

Here’s something that’s running on Friday and Saturday to bring the kids to. A festive performance of Peter Pan is presented by the students of Bryan Carr’s School of Performing Arts at Siamsa Tíre at 7.30pm on Friday and 2.30pm and 7.30pm on Saturday.

Fly away to Neverland with Peter and the Darling children in this amateur production of Disney’s beloved animated film and J.M. Barrie’s enchanting play, Disney’s Peter Pan JR. a modern version of the timeless tale about a boy who wouldn’t grow up! Click here for ticket details.

Saturday

2. A Christmas Fair…

TEACH an tSolais at St John’s Ashe Street will once again be a hive of activity on Saturday as the parish hosts its annual Christmas Fair.

Taking place from 10.30am to 2.30pm, it’s set to be a fantastic day for all the family with raffles and hampers, face-painting, children’s games teas/coffees and scones, a door prize and more.

A silent auction will also take place with some great prizes up for grabs. There’ll also be Christmas decorations for sale as well as children’s toys and games, home-baking and preserves, clothes and more so why not call in this Saturday.

3. Get crafty at Roundys…

A group of local artists are having a pop-up Christmas craft fair at Roundys bar on Saturday from 1pm to 6pm.

The artists are Rebecca Lyons origami, James Brown photographer, Tralee Pottery club , pottery, Mary G Sheehan, artist and painter, Inked hibiscus designs crochet and last but not least #minimixologist hot chocolate bar.

This Christmas buy local , handmade and unique and pick something a little different from the norm.

4. Watch the Warriors…

Join Garvey’s Tralee Warriors for their last home game of 2018 against Moycullen. A great night to be expected as usual in the Tralee Sports Complex.

The half time shot is €175 this week, there will be merchandise on sale, the Balloonagh School Choir will entertain at half time and in the lobby. The raffle proceeds will be given to charity (the omeless shelter in Tralee – Novas Arlington Lodge and the children’s ward in UHK).

You’re asked to wear your Santa hat and Christmas jumper there will be prizes for the best ones!  Apparently they’ll be playing some basketball too. Tip-off is at 7.30pm.

Sunday

5. Santa Fun Run…

It’s time for the Santa 5k Fun Run from Tralee Bay Wetlands. Now in its sixth year it’s a wildly popular event and hundreds are expected to dress in red for the morning where runners will set off at 11am in aid of Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children. The cost is €10 per adult and €5 for under 12’s. To find out more about the event click here
