Five Things To Do Around Tralee This Weekend

A royal visit, a ladies lunch and a hotel celebration will make it a special weekend in town. Here’s a few things to do…

Friday

1. See the future King…

Here’s something that doesn’t happen very often. Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall are in Tralee sometime just after 12.30pm. Get as close to Siamsa Tíre as you can if you want to see, or even meet, the future King of England.

2. Feile na mBláth…

It’s back and bigger than ever so let’s hope we get the weather! There’s tonnes of stuff to do all weekend so the best thing to do is pick up a programme or check out their facebook page here

Saturday

3. Meadowlands turns 20…

It’s been 20 years since the Ó Mathúna family from west Kerry took over the Meadowlands Hotel so that a big reason for a party.

There’s a feast of entertainment all weekend which kicked off with a sports quiz on Friday night. Saturday is the big day with family fun, a barbecue and famous sports stars including the legendary Paul McGrath making an appearance. Check out the full schedule of events by clicking here

4. Enjoy a Ladies Lunch…

There’s just a few tickets left for a great way to spend Saturday afternoon. The Spa Fenit Hospice Committee have organised their Midsummer Ladies Lunch in aid of the Palliative Care Unit University Hospital Kerry at The Oyster Tavern starting at 1pm.

As well as a superb four-course meal, the guest speaker on the day will be Radio Kerry’s Deirdre Walsh. The event is almost sold out but call the The Oyster Tavern on (066) 713 6102 for tickets at €55 each.

5. The hurling begins…

It’s a double header of action this weekend with the Kerry SHC kicking off on Saturday evening in Austin Stack Park.

Kilmoyley v Lixnaw at 5.30pm will be followed by Ballyduff v Abbeydorney at 7.15pm. Sunday sees another double header with Ballyheigue v Crotta O’Neills at 2pm and Causeway v St Brendan’s at 3.45pm. Let battle commence!
