Let’s hope the weather improves this weekend because the past week has been just miserable. There’s a few things on in town that might cheer you up…

Saturday

1. Let it snow…

Whatever Met Eireann tells us, there’ll definitely be snow on Saturday in the town centre.

Snow Day, organised by Tralee Chamber Alliance with support from Kerry County Council, promises to be a festive treat for families.

Soak up the Christmas atmosphere from 12noon to 6pm with Christmas characters, choirs and carol singers, Siamsa Tire performers, live music, beautiful food and treats and of course giant snow machines from Franc’s team in Snow Ireland, all to create a winter wonderland in the town square right throughout the day.

2. Christmas Food and Craft Fair…

The Christmas Food and Craft Fair will take place on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th in Manor West Shopping Centre.

The annual pre-Christmas weekend sees the shopping centre play host to a variety of local food producers and craftspeople, giving them an opportunity to showcase their produce and creations from 11am – 5pm each day.

Radio Kerry and Francis Jones will broadcast live from 11am – 1.00pm on Saturday, while Santa will also be present with entertainment including face painting and balloon modelling.

3. Light To Remember…

The ‘Light To Remember’ ceremony will take place between 6pm and 7pm on the grounds of University Hospital Kerry.

The fundraiser for Kerry Hospice will see a Christmas tree lit up with each light to remember a loved one who has passed away.

The lights at €5 are still available to buy online until the end of December and are being sold by Kerry Hospice volunteers. Deirdre Walsh from Radio Kerry will be the MC on the evening. KHF will be also continue to sell lights for the virtual tree on the night.

The tree initiative began last year and proved a big success with much needed funds raised for the Palliative Care Unit. Click on the following link to sponsor a light and leave a tribute https://lighttoremember.com/?fbclid=IwAR05cViqDG7sZbasqZE3y-7YpxHjYtA2mC9ipp04yQGQXv0P7syfHKE-yfM
