The Park Festival will take place this weekend.

THE ‘Féile Na mBláth @ The Park Family Festival’ is all ready to go this weekend.

With events running from 9.30am to 6pm each day, open air entertainment and protective marquees on hand in case the weather decides to take a turn (it won’t!), it’s set to be a great weekend.

It’s hard to single out five things to do from the amazing choice of events but here goes…

1. There is a host of fun runs for all your little ones to enjoy including a three-legged race, the egg and spoon race, the sack race and many more in what is sure to leave the kids with a big smile on their faces.

The runs are taking place at the same times on both Saturday and Sunday, the first from 12.30-1pm and the second session from 5-5.30pm, both in ‘The Fun Run’ area of the park.

2. An afternoon of fun for all the family awaits at ‘Spraoi Marquee’ with a very special picnic being hosted by ‘Teddy’ and his friends from Kingdom Party Pals.

A fancy dress disco will be taking place on the day too on what will definitely prove to be a fantastic way to spend the afternoon.

It will all be kicking off from 1.30pm to 4pm so make you get down early to save yourself disappointment.

3. The ‘O’Mahony’s Travelling Farm’ rolls into town, bringing with a whole host of different animals.

Parents, children, couples and friends will be able to come down to the ‘Park Plaza’ area of the festival and see some lambs, pigs, chicks, goats, donkeys and much more in an activity that will surely draw some of the biggest crowds.

The farm will only be here on the Saturday, but will run from 12pm until 4pm so there’s plenty of time for you to get down and see them.

4. The ever popular dog-show makes a return again this year as people from all over bring their beloved pets out for a day in the park as they bid to win in a number of different categories including ‘Best Puppy’ and ‘Dog of The Show’.

Last year’s event proved a huge success (see here for previous story) with huge numbers turning out to enjoy the day. This year, the competition will be followed by ‘terrier racing’ which is definitely as interesting as it sounds and not to be missed.

The Dog Show will be taking place from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday June 13 in the ‘Tree Circle Parade’ area of the park.

5. An Riocht Archery Club Kerry will be showing us something completely different this year as they set up camp in our park for the day on Sunday June 14.

They will be around from 12pm-5pm on the day and will be demonstrating all their skills of modern and traditional archery for the public, and even inviting those watching to come and try their hand.

So if you’ve ever fancied yourself a modern day ‘Robin Hood’, then get yourself down to the ‘Archery Wall’ and see what happens.
