Five Things To Do At The Festival Today

AND so it begins. The Rose of Tralee International Festival makes a welcome return to town today after a break of three years, with a host of fun events to kick off proceedings.

Here’s a few suggestions on what to see and do on Friday…

1. Play the markets…

Always popular, the market stalls return to the town centre where you can browse and  buy from the traditional arts and crafts stands, while sampling the delicious fayre from the many food stalls.

2. Head to Féile…

 

The Féile na mBláth @ The Park Festival is back in the town park to coincide with the Rose Festival.

Beginning from 12 noon and continuing until 5pm, there’s family camps with The Big Dig, Fanzini Brother, Circus workshop, Drum Dance & Hoolie, Kids Party Club, Kingdom Party Pals and featuring the Family Town Show for 2022 ‘Madagascar – A Musical Adventure’ with Alex, Marty, Melman, Gloria, The Penguins & of course King Julien to help you ‘Move It Move It’.

More than enough to keep the family entertained. (see the full programme below)

3. Roses in The Square…

The official welcoming for the 33 Rose contestants will take place in The Square from 3.30pm.

The Roses will first settle into their accommodation in The Meadowlands Hotel before heading down town for the event presented by Kerry County Council Tralee Municipal District, replete with musical entertainment.

4. Enjoy the nightlife…

The festival is always alive with free street entertainment and The Square will feature a pop-up portable performance by The Pat McManus Band.

If that’s not your thing, many of the towns bars and hotels are hosting great live music tonight and all week.

5. Retrospective at the Dome…

The new mini-dome at the Abbey Car Park will see its inaugural gig on Friday night from 11pm til late with ‘Retrospective’. It will feature three DJs playing floor fillers from the past. Tickets are €15 online or €20 on the door.
