Fine weather is on the way, it’s a long weekend, Kerry are playing, a Liverpool FC legend is in town…what more do you want?…

Friday

1. Walking with legends…

A much-loved local man and sports fanatic will be remembered tonight at the Robert O’Dowd Memorial 10k Run/5k Walk .

Three-time European Champions Cup medal holder Alan Kennedy of Liverpool FC will join Robert’s family, friends and people who just want to go for a run/walk, at the charity event from the Aquadome at 7pm. You can register between 5pm and 6.30pm at the venue. The 5k Walk is €10 and the 10k Run is €20 to register.

Later that night there’s a summer barbecue at Benner’s Hotel where Alan Kennedy will be joined by Mick Galway, Aidan O’Mahony, John Leahy and Seamus Moynihan. A great start  to the weekend.

Saturday

2. Six Nations silverware on show…

Tralee Rugby Club members will be in possession of the Triple Crown and Six Nations trophies on The Mall between 2pm and 5pm.

Ireland is enjoying a golden era when it comes to the oval ball and the country celebrated as the side won only their third Grand Slam ever back in March.

You can call down to  to get your photo taken with the two trophies, which were held aloft by Rory Best and Co. when they beat England in the deciding game at Twickenham during St Patrick’s weekend.

3. Support the Kingdom…

It’s do or die for Kerry, and even that mightn’t be enough to see them advance in the All-Ireland Championship this weekend.

Kildare visit Killarney for the final Super 8 encounter with the Kingdom. Kerry have to win and hope Monaghan are defeated by Galway in Salthill. They need all the support they can get so head over for the 6pm throw-in.

Sunday

4. On the run…

Two run/walks are taking place on Sunday morning.

The Dan Paddy Andy Festival in Lyreacrompane is on this weekend and as part of it, they are hosting a 5k and 10k run/walk in aid of Enable Ireland Kerry.

It has an 11am starting time and registration takes place from 9am to 10.45am.

Meanwhile, the annual Banna Run takes place at 9.30am. This is a 5k and 10k Road Race now in its ninth year with registration closing at 9am.
