Five Things To Do This Weekend

.

It’s the weekend and a very big one at that! A parade, Strictly Come Dancing, matches and marathons will make it one to remember…

Friday

1. Dancing blues…

Tonight’s the night 12 couples take to the floor for Kerins O’Rahillys ‘Strictly Club Dancing’  in The Brandon.

Deirdre Walsh of Radio Kerry is MC on a night where around 1,000 people are expected at the venue with the opening dance at 8pm.

There’s still tickets available at the Kerins O’Rahillys clubhouse at €20 if you want to join in the fun.

Saturday

2. Tralee goes green…

The St Patrick’s Day parade is always a fantastic occasion to show off the community spirit we have in this town.

The parade is set to start a little earlier this year at around 11.45am so everyone can get home/to the pub for the Ireland v England Grand Slam clash.

Dan Horan is the Grand Marshal and theme of this year’s parade is ‘Enterprise’.

3. Lilywhite night for Kerry…

Jack Barry.

The Kerry footballers will welcome Kildare to Austin Stack Park at 7pm in a vital game for the green and gold side.

Expect a good crowd at the venue, hopefully buoyed up by an Irish success on the rugby field.

Sunday

4. A bit of a run…

The Tralee marathon has finally arrived and hundreds are expected to take part in the events.

The full and half marathons take off at 9.30am and the 5k and 10k races at 10am, all from Tralee Bay Wetlands. Make sure you show your support for all the runners if you see them on the road.

5. Local derby…

Two rivals clash in the Senior Town League Final at John Mitchels GAA grounds at Ballyseedy.

The home side, John Mitchels will be looking to get one over their friends from across town, Austin Stacks in the decider which throws in at 2pm.

Both sides were defeated in their opening county league games last weekend and will be hoping to get back to winning ways…and get some local bragging rights too!
