Five Things To Do Today At The Festival

It’s Saturday and that means more festival fun to enjoy around town. Here’s a few suggestions on what to get up to today… 

1. Family fun continues…

The Féile na mBláth festival continues today in the Town Park with Family Camps, a Flower Show, The Big Dig, Fanzini Brother, Circus work- shop, Drum Dance & Hoolie, Kids Party Club, Kingdom Party Pals.

The Family Town Show features ‘Madagascar – A Musical Adventure’ with Alex, Marty, Melman, Gloria, The Penguins & of course King Julien. Well worth a visit with the young kids (see full programme below).

2. Meet your local Gardaí…

The Tralee Gardaí Open Day takes place at the Ashe Memorial Hall. Supported by statutory and voluntary Emergency Services, come and meet your local Gardaí with their vehicles, dog unit, mounted unit, air support unit (weather permitting) with Fire, Sea & Cliff and others. It takes place from 12 noon to 5pm.

3. Sample some great free music entertainment…

There’s a host of free music entertainment to enjoy today in the Square. For trad lovers, the Ballydonoghue/Lisselton Comhaltas Branch will play 12.30-2pm.

This is followed by a George Michael Tribute from 3pm, Justin Flynn is at 3.45pm, followed by Freddie Mercury Tribute at 4pm. Aaron Stack is on at 4.45pm while local band Aftershock are on from 8-9pm and from 10-11pm.

4. Watch the Roses on parade…

Saturday night is synonymous with the Rose Parade so get down early, well before the 8.30pm start, to get a good spot to see the floats with over 350 people taking part.

Then, follow the crowd down to the Ashe Memorial Hall to see the traditional fireworks display.

5. Dance the night away…

The Dome in the Abbey Car Park will host a ‘Welcome Back Disco’ from 11pm. It’s time to put on your dancing shoes and boogie the night away with the Roses and Rose Escorts. Tickets are €15 online/ €20 on the door.
