It’s the weekend and with the weather expected to be pretty ok, you might as well get out and about. Here’s a few things to go to…

Friday

1. Fashion and coffee…

If you’re reading this before 1pm on Friday you can head down to Paco on The Mall for a special fundraiser.

They will be raising funds in association with the Jamie Wrenn/Mike Deane charity walk which takes place next month.

There will be teas and coffees, buns, scones and a fashion show so get down and support if you can.

2. Championship time…

The north Kerry clubs are ready to do battle again as the Garvey’s Supervalu Kerry Senior Hurling Championship gets underway at Austin Stack Park in a double header.

Champions Kilmoyley take on Crotta O’Neills at 5.30pm while Causeway face St Brendan’s at 7.15pm. Let the games begin!

3. Another town derby…

The County League Division 1 throws up another local derby this weekend with John Mitchels hosting Kerins O’Rahillys at 7.30pm.

It hasn’t been the greatest of campaigns for Strand Road and the Rockies who are fourth and second from bottom of the table respectively.

John Mitchels though, despite being in sixth place on six points, are just two points off four clubs above them on eight points.

The Blues are seriously depleted without their Kerry stars and players off abroad for the summer, but they will give it their all against their town rivals.

4. Old rivals meet…

Tens of thousands will make the trip to Killarney for the Munster finals on what is always a special day.

Bear in mind it’s an early throw-in for the Kerry minors against Clare at 12 noon, with Cork taking on Kerry at 2pm. What this means is get there early or face being stuck in Farranfore at 11am and another hour in the car.

5. Art and meditation in Fenit…

If you want a break from the football in Killarney, then Fenit Parish Hall is offering something very different.

Run by Tricia O’Connor from Tralee, with the ‘Cultivating Change Through Creativity’ Workshop, she is responding to people’s needs and desires to cultivate a spiritual practice but in unique creative way.

This workshop will combine an hour of Grounding and a guided meditation that will focus on the three lower chakras.

They will then take a short break and paint what came up in our meditations for the second hour. The workshop takes place from 12noon to 2pm.

Arts and materials and teas and coffees will be provided. To book call Tricia on 085-1144700 or email triciaoconnor30@gmail.com
