Everyone is invited to Ardfert in the morning, to take part in a great cycle in aid of the local national school.

The annual Ardfert Harvest Cycle has a choice of a 75km or 40km route for participants who pay the €20 registration (€15 for children).

Riders set off from the schoolyard  at 10am where there is sure to be a great atmosphere created by ‘Big Jim’. There will be fresh scones and refreshments served before the event and a BBQ with great music is planned for the schoolyard on their return. Registration in the morning is from 8.30am to 9.45am. A charity initiative in aid of Arlington Lodge, will see people sleeping out overnight in Pearse Park to raise funds for the homeless shelter.

‘Under The Elements’ takes place from 6pm to 6am and they are asking the public to get involved to help those caught up in the homeless. Funds raised will go towards renovating a house for a person with disabilities.

On Sunday, an Under The Elements Family Fun Day in the Square will take place between 12pm and 6pm to keep the ball rolling on charity efforts.

The family fun day will feature bands, Comic Book Heroes and Chapter 2 along with Face-painting and Kingdom Party Pals for the kids. There will also be spot prizes donated by local businesses raffled off.

A registration night will be held in the boardroom of The Ashe Hotel, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm on the night of the sleep out. €10 for adults and €5 for teens (from 14yrs).

3. Rockies on the road…

Ok, it’s not happening in Tralee, but if you’re of the black and amber persuasion, you’ll be hitting the road for Killarney. Austin Stacks take on Dr Crokes at Fitzgerald Stadium in the Club Championship final.

It should be a full-blooded encounter, as both teams need to raise the intensity levels ahead of the quarter-finals of the county championship in three weeks.

Sunday…

4. Disney fun at TMS quiz…

of Tralee Musical Society.

If your little one is a Disney fan (and which child isn’t?) then St Brendan’s Pastoral Centre is the place to be this Sunday.

Test your knowledge on everything from Frozen to Snow White as Tralee Musical Society hold a Disney Family Quiz at the centre at 2pm.

A table of four costs €20 with all the proceeds going towards the Society’s production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

A Disney-themed fancy dress competition will also be held on the day which promises to be a fun family gathering.

The clash of hurling’s most successful clubs takes place on Sunday at 3.30pm, when Kilmoyley attempt to keep onto the Neilus Flynn Cup for another year when take on Ballyduff.

It’s set to be a great game and hopefully the rain will stay away so spectators can enjoy the showpiece event in the county’s hurling calendar.
