A CANDIDATE in the upcoming general election says that a small North Kerry village is being targeted by unknown individuals from outside the locality to settle feuds.

Aontú candidate, Sonny Foran, says he has viewed so-called ‘call out’ clips on social media of groups from outside the area using Causeway as a location to settle feuds.

“This is an outrageous situation. This is coupled with the intimidation of families in Ballyduff and threats being issued by lurcher dog owners to farmers in Ballyheigue.”

“Since raising the issue of anti-social behaviour last year, I have been contacted by people from Tralee, Killarney and Listowel regarding anti-social behaviour in their areas. For older generations, vulnerable people and indeed the wider community, this illegal and reckless activity is causing untold distress and harm.”

“These actions can be attributed to a small group of individuals, but as we have seen in Limerick some years back, and presently in Dublin, it can fester and wreak havoc on communities. I have been in contact with Local Garda Divisions in Kerry regarding these issues and will continue to liaise with them going forward.”

“It is also important that individuals with any information on anti-social behaviour contact the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or contact me privately so that we can work collectively to eradicate this type of thuggery in our society,” concluded Mr Foran.
