Kat Mahon, Longford Rose 2014 will be aiming to represent Ireland in Eurovision in Vienna this year.

A FORMER ‘Rose of Tralee’ contestant is entering ‘Eurosong 2015’ with the hopes of representing Ireland in this year’s ‘Eurovision.’

Kat Mahon represented Longford at the 2014 Rose Of Tralee and is hoping to impress when she competes against four other acts in a bid to represent Ireland at the ’60th Eurovision Song Contest’ in Vienna later this year.

Kat is no stranger to performing in high profile competitions, having been one of the singers in the band ‘Lilac Blues’ who were semi-finalists in RTE’s ‘All Ireland Talent Show’ in 2009 and having supported such bands as Delorentos and John Spillane.

She will be aided in her quest to represent her country by none other than former ‘Eurovision’ winner and veteran singer-songwriter Charlie McGettigan, who has penned the song  ‘Anybody Got a Shoulder’ for Kat.

She is understandably delighted with the news!

“Charlie McGettigan approached me to do vocals and I jumped at the opportunity to work with him. I am over the moon that it’s been selected as one of the final five songs and I’m now eager to get up a perform it!”

The other acts that will perform are Alex Saint and the MJs, Erika Selin, Nikki Kavanagh and Molly Sterling.

The winning act will be selected on Eurosong 2015 on The Late Late Show on Friday February 27.

As in previous years, the winner will be selected by a combination of public and regional jury vote.
