The man arrested on suspicion of being part of a paedophile ring, who spent a number of years in Tralee.
A POLISH national, who spent a number of years living and working in Tralee, has been arrested in connection with an international network of paedophiles.
The man was arrested along with 15 other men in Poland suspected to be part of a network of more than 750 paedophiles who shared child pornography online.
Polish police have published the photos of 9 of the 15 men after their arrests with a hope to getting in contact with people who may recognise them to further their investigations.
A number of members of the Polish community in Tralee were shocked to see his face on Polish national media in the past few days.
It is believed the man – whose name has not been released – studied at IT Tralee for a period of time and also worked in a phone shop in town for one year.
His former employer in town told TraleeToday.ie he was horrified when he heard the news of the arrest and assured the public that the suspect was a sales assistant and did not have access to the phones of customers.
He told us the suspect worked at the shop for one year, but had also attended the IT Tralee for a period of three to four years. The man left Tralee over one year ago.
When contacted about the man in question, IT Tralee said they did not give out information about their students past or present.
