These online series are being made possible due to the collaboration between Kerry County Council, the HSE, NEWKD, SKDP, Kerry Mental Health Association, Jigsaw Kerry, IT Tralee and Kerry Volunteer Centre.

Launching the online sessions, the chairperson of Kerry Mental Health and Wellbeing Fest, Donagh Hennebry, said: “All adults in Kerry and workplaces to avail of these free 15-minute mindfulness and yoga sessions to help people to switch off, find ways to relax and support their general wellbeing during these difficult times. This is a perfect opportunity for employers to support wellbeing in their workplace.”

The Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council, Cllr Patrick Connor-Scarteen, added: “The sessions are a key component of the local initiatives that are being developed and rolled out across the county under the national ‘Keep Well’ campaign and I would encourage everyone to take part. Taking time out to relax and unwind is such an important thing to do at the present challenging time.”

The Keep Well campaign in Kerry complements the national government campaign and focuses on five ways to support community wellbeing, which are:

• Keeping active and being outdoors – even during the winter, it is important to help physical and mental health and wellbeing.
• Staying connected – staying connected with people and addressing isolation as person-to-person connection is important to our wellbeing.
• Switching off and being creative – switching off and being creative or learning something new, getting back to nature and finding ways to relax can help our general wellbeing.
• Eating well – by nourishing your body and mind we can positively impact our physical and mental wellbeing.
• Managing your mood – equipping people with information on where to go if they need support
