Friends Of UHK Look Forward To Night At The Dogs

IT’S set to be another wonderful night at the dogs on Friday as the Friends of University Hospital Kerry hold their annual fundraiser.

Over €70,000 was raised at the event at the Kingdom Greyhound Stadium in 2017.

With the funds raised, the Friends of University Hospital Kerry donated a Cardiac Echo Scanner to the Cardiac Unit of the hospital. The scanner was purchased and has been working since the end of 2017. There are now two machines in the Unit and 18 patients are scanned each day.

Since 1990 the annual event has raised well over €2 million.

This year the organisation is are fundraising for equipment including a specialised ultrasound for the Emergency Department which allows immediate diagnosis of life-threatening conditions such as bleeding into the stomach or stoppage of the heart.

They are also fundraising for an instrument to detect infections in ulcers, a scanner to detect problems in the bladder and video equipment for the endoscopy unit.

There is also a  Best Dressed Lady Competition  sponsored by Sam McCauley Chemists in Manor West Retail Park and much more entertainment.

Tickets cost €5 and each ticket will be entered into a draw (first prize €300, second prize €100, third prize €50).
